  3. No more struggling with the mouse for classics like Elite.

  5. Magnetic Image has produced an analogue joystick interface,
  6. Falcon Analogue. It allows you to use up to 2 PC compatible
  7. analogue joysticks for more advanced control and playability.
  8. It plugs into the parallel port and runs on all RISC OS machines.
  9. It provides the Joystick SWI and can also emulate the mouse and
  10. keyboard for total compatibility with most games including Elite.

  26. Using the provided Falcon Analogue Setup Files (Obey Files) for Elite :

  29. Run the Analogue driver module. Run the !Falcon RISC OS setup application.

  31. For 2 button joysticks, drag 'FA_Elite2' on to the Falcon Icon. For 4 button
  32. joysticks drag 'FA_Elite4' onto the Falcon Icon. You will need to adjust the
  33. calibration for your joystick - see your printed or online hypertext manual.

  35. Now save the Setup file away again, and double click it to use it when
  36. playing Elite : Remember the hot key Left Shift + Left Alt to turn Mouse and
  37. Key emulation on or off, if it gets in the way of other Elite screens like
  38. trading etc. or the desktop itself.

  40. Use Elite in the CAPS LOCK ON mode for the given setup file.

  42. 2 Button Mode
  43.   Joystick Left and Right : smooth roll - use to match the rotation speed of
  44.       the space station for turbo docking !
  45.   Joystick Forward and Back : fine up / down control, use to pin point
  46.       fleeing enemies before reducing them to their component parts.
  47.   Main trigger fire : lasers fire.
  48.   Top fire button : Speed Up
  49.   Both Fires together ('virtual' C button) : Slow Down.

  52.   Joystick Movement as above.
  53.   Main Trigger : Laser Fire
  54.   Top Fire : 'E' ECM instantly available
  55.   Additional Buttons : Speed up and slow down.

  57. As you get more practised at setting up Falcon files, with a 4 button stick
  58. you can set up missile targeting 'T' and firing 'M' as the extra 'virtual'
  59. buttons C and D. This means you can have a total of 4 functions from just 2
  60. buttons, all provided by the Falcon.

  62. Also : Some joysticks (quite expensive ones) provide a 'top hat' which is a
  63. joystick on a joystick. This can be setup to look around the crafts views as
  64. intended with Keys F1 to F4.
